Frequently Asked Questions
Why has Youth United suspended some activities and started supporting other NGOs and Government Departments?
As a 12 years old organisation, we have come a long way in terms of discharging our duties as citizens of this great nation. In this process, we have undertaken various activities in the fields of youth development, women empowerment, children welfare, farmer welfare, drug de-addiction, advocacy, mass education and public health. With the continuously changing social scenario in India, we soon realised that having a more focussed approach on a very few selected causes would be better than utilising our resources (both human and financial) on a variety of causes. This changed approach makes more sense when we understand the ever changing social welfare scenario in India, which is full of hundreds of thousands of NGOs working for a variety of causes in a very haphazard approach without any significant efficiency and causing a lot of redundancy. Instead of working on a new project based on these causes, it makes more sense to support other NGOs working on this causes. In this context, we have shifted our attention on the projects which aim at
- very critical issues (for which not many organisations are active)
- providing support to Government welfare activities and other NGOs by means of volunteering, operational supervision and funding,
- using advocacy measures to propagate public welfare issues to policy level.
