It is needed in the interest of the mass residing in the slums to be given equal rights and more importantly, the knowledge of these rights.
Youth United carries out a project in different slum areas of India under the name of
Youth United Mass Education and Awareness Mission, YUMEAM, to make people aware of their rights and the benefits they can get from the government.
Youth United aims to work for the weakest section of the society, the underprivileged population through its National Project
, YOUTH UNITED MASS EDUCATION AND AWARENESS MISSION (YUMEAM), which shall be instigated in different parts of India in a gruadated manner with all its 3 phases:
i)
Phase I- Awareness Campaigns and Survey:- In this phase a comprehensive survey on various criteria/issues/problems which include but not limited to health issues, legal issues, other physical, psychological and Socio-economic issues, shall be conducted within the notified area having maximum number of beneficiaries. This survey shall be complemented with spreading up of awareness within this section of Society through a series of Awareness camps contemplating similar issues.
ii)
Phase II- Resolution Camps:- After having noticed and contemplated the issues and recommendations reflected through Final report of Phase-I, various medical, legal and other resolution camps shall be conducted within this notified area, to provide the population residing in this area solutions to their problem on the basis of First Time Resolution (FTR).
iii)
Phase III- Establishment of Education Centers:- After the completion of phase I & II, Youth United shall exactly be in a position to figure out the kind of requirements that would still be required to meet all the
objectives of this project. For this purpose, Youth United shall establish various education/computer/vocational centers primarily for women/girls, so that this section of population can be made self dependent.

2. To manifest the difference between Literate and Educated (refer to section F of this document) and to implement the strategies by which awareness through Education can be disseminated in a prevalent manner. (as discussed below)
3. To instigate a commodious establishment, where amenities and services, in accordance with the objectives mentioned in this section shall be facilitated, with the help of Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh and other competitive proprietary Government/Non Government Agencies, who also intend to meet and accomplish any or all of the objectives mentioned or implied in this section
4. To make youth (Boys and Girls) aware of the schemes and amenities, Government originally intend to provide to them, and which normally goes unutilized primarily because of prevailing unawareness in the Society.
5. To provide education to students (Boys and Girls) upto secondary level.
6. Particularly for Girls, to identify further opportunities for who have studied upto Secondary level and want to study further.
7. Particularly for Girls, to promote practice and awareness of Information Technology by providing specialized education including knowledge of expert level computer know-how and other Information Technology skills to Girl Students apart from regular studies to make them suitable for the industry and this way they can readily be employed.
8. Creating scope for application of functional literacy for improvement of living conditions and quality of life.
9. Dissemination of information on development programmes and widening & improving participation of traditionally deprived section of the society.
10. To provide guidance and counseling to the children educated under this and other projects for regarding further employment opportunities.
11. To provide vocational training to students in the form of stitching courses etcetera.
12. To provide Computer education to children so as to make them employable.
13. To aware the various schools and other educational institutions (colleges, etcetera) in the city about the desolate conditions existing in the slums and to instill the spirit and of teaching in these students, in order to promote the Each One Teach One campaign of the government.
14. To encourage education of girl child and reduce the gender gap in literacy.
15. To work for the welfare of other sections of Society like old age people etc. by organizing different activities at this cente
Phase-I and II, YUMEAM of Chandigarh is nearly completed, though work for III phase is going in full swing.
